Giving to God’s children and His creatures who are in need is such a wonderful act of love.

We have only one life to live. We can either spend our time being self-concerned, working hard in pursuit of our own happiness, constantly seeking to obtain and achieve what we want, so to make our own lives better. Or we can choose to be selfless, like Christ, and work hard to make the lives of those in true physical and spiritual poverty better.

The decision is up to us: we can live to love God, who is present in all His children, who wants to use us to help them find earthly and eternal happiness, and as a result find true happiness for ourselves too. Or we can live to love ourselves by seeking our will and indulging in endless worldly pleasures and things that we do not really need forfeiting the true earthly and eternal happiness God has prepared for us for worthless idols. The choice is ours.

“Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me” (Matthew 25:40).
